For effective management and assessment of Natural Resources
A GIS-based Asset Management System to:
Maintain up-to-date inventory of permissible created assets
Perform periodic asset assessments & summarize the results using measurement scales
Identify soil layers and fertility levels
Keep ahead of the maintenance curve
GIS - help to evolve:
Appropriate methodology for collection, collation, storage and processing of data on natural resources in a given region & in totality
Standardized formats for natural resources and socio-economic data in an integrated manner to establish linkage among various hierarchical units
To utilize information for planning and development
A pilot to be started which will use the remote sensing technology which will be able to capture the status of work site before the start of work and after the completion of the work
Current Status:
Mahatma Gandhi NREGA is under process to prepare a strategy for nationwide rollout and evolve parameters for standardization with an objective to link GIS with decentralized planning, preparing labour budget, programme implementation and asset monitoring & evaluation.
In this regard a GIS Expert Group and a Sub Group has been constituted.
